Call for Papers and Presentations: COTSEAL Conference at UW-Seattle, May 17-18, 2019

CALL FOR PAPERS and PRESENTATIONS

35th Annual Conference and Technology Workshop at the University of Washington, Seattle
Empowering Southeast Asian Language Teachers: Collaborations and Innovations
May 17-18, 2019

COTSEAL invites participants from academic institutions, teachers, researchers, and graduate students who are interested in, involved in, or have conducted research on Southeast Asian language education and linguistics to submit abstracts to the conference.

Paper/presentation topics may include, but are not limited to:
  • Different approaches in teaching SEA languages
  • Proficiency, project, and community-based learning
  • Heritage language learners
  • Distance learning and flipped classrooms
  • University policies & related issues affecting SEA language instruction
Abstract Submission Deadline: March 1, 2019
Notification of Acceptance: March 15, 2019

An abstract proposal should include the title, a brief description of 250 words maximum, and a presenter profile that should include your name, institution, email address, and phone number. Send them as two email attachments (MS Word and PDF) to jwijaya@humnet.ucla.edu. Subject line: COTSEAL 2019 Abstract Submission.

Travel Grants
COTSEAL is offering partial travel grants to help lecturers and graduate students whose papers are accepted to present at the conference. Please indicated if you would like to apply for a travel grant in your submission email. Those awarded the travel grants are expected to fully participate in the 2-day conference and workshop. A detailed description of the travel grant process, the conference announcement, hotel information, and updates will be posted on the COTSEAL website as the conference approaches: http://cotseal.net/conference_2019.html.

Please note: All presenters and travel grant recipients are required to be PAID members of COTSEAL at the time of the conference.
